QuestWake Privacy Policy

QuestWake ("QuestWake", "we", "us", or "our") is a mission-based alarm application for iPhone and iPad. We respect your privacy and have designed QuestWake so that most of its functionality runs directly on your device.

This Privacy Policy explains what information QuestWake collects, how it is used, how it is stored, and the limited circumstances in which information is transmitted from your device.

1. Information Stored on Your Device

QuestWake does not require you to create an account or sign in.

The following information is stored locally on your device:

• Alarm settings, including alarm times, repeat schedules, sounds, mission types, and difficulty settings.
• Mission history, streaks, and statistics displayed within the app.
• App preferences, including appearance, language, notification preferences, and other settings.

Some onboarding responses are also securely transmitted to our backend as described in Section 5.

You can delete all locally stored information at any time by deleting QuestWake from your device.

2. Device Features QuestWake Uses

Camera

QuestWake uses your camera for QR code missions and object-finding missions. Images are processed entirely on your device using an on-device machine learning model. Images captured for missions are never uploaded or stored on our servers.

You may deny camera permission at any time. Camera-based missions will simply be unavailable.

Photo Library

QuestWake requests access to your photo library only if you choose to attach an existing image when submitting a bug report or feature request. We only receive the image you explicitly choose to share. QuestWake does not scan or access your photo library.

Motion Sensors

QuestWake uses your device's motion sensors during Shake missions. Motion data is used only while the mission is active and is not stored.

Notifications

QuestWake uses local notifications to trigger alarms. With your permission, QuestWake may also send remote push notifications such as reminders, feature announcements, subscription-related reminders, and occasional promotional messages.

You can disable notifications at any time through your iPhone or iPad Settings.

Background Audio

QuestWake plays alarm sounds while an alarm is active. QuestWake does not record audio from your microphone.

Live Activities & Lock Screen

QuestWake may display alarm information using Live Activities, the Lock Screen, or the Dynamic Island. This information remains on your device.

3. Information QuestWake Does Not Collect

QuestWake does not:

• Require user accounts.
• Sell your personal information.
• Use advertising SDKs or advertising networks.
• Use the Apple Advertising Identifier (IDFA).
• Request App Tracking Transparency permission.
• Include third-party analytics services.
• Track your precise location.
• Access your contacts, calendar, Health data, or microphone.
• Create advertising or behavioral profiles.

QuestWake functions primarily offline. Internet access is required for subscription management, onboarding synchronization, optional bug reports, and sending remote notifications.

4. Optional Bug Reports & Feature Requests

If you choose to report a bug or submit a feature request from within QuestWake, the information is securely transmitted to our backend hosted on Cloudflare Workers.

This submission may include:

• Title and description you provide.
• Your email address (optional).
• Device model.
• iOS version.
• QuestWake app version.
• An optional screenshot or image you choose to attach.

This information is used only to investigate, diagnose, improve QuestWake, and respond to your report or request.

It is not used for advertising or sold to third parties.

5. Onboarding Data

During the onboarding process, QuestWake securely transmits certain onboarding responses to our backend hosted on Cloudflare Workers.

This information may include:

• How you discovered QuestWake (source).
• Your preferred wake-up time.
• Your preferred wake-up method.
• Your selected difficulty level.
• Your preferred wake-up days.
• Your selected alarm sound.
• Your preferred mission type.
• Your reason for using QuestWake.
• Your response to the "Out of Bed" question.
• Your estimated value of one hour of your time.
• An optional signature or display name you choose to provide.
• Your device model.
• Your iOS version.
• Your QuestWake app version.

We use this information to understand how users configure QuestWake, improve the onboarding experience, improve future versions of the app, troubleshoot issues, and better understand feature usage.

QuestWake does not require an account. The onboarding information is not linked to an Apple ID or user account. Unless you voluntarily provide identifying information (such as an optional signature or display name), the onboarding data is not intended to identify you personally.

6. On-Device Machine Learning

QuestWake uses Apple's Core ML framework to perform object recognition entirely on your device for object-finding missions.

Images used for these missions never leave your device and are never processed on our servers.

7. Children's Privacy

QuestWake is intended for users aged 13 and older and is not directed toward children under 13.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information through a bug report or onboarding, please contact us so we can review and, where appropriate, delete the information.

8. Your Choices and Rights

• Grant or revoke camera and photo library permissions through your device settings.
• Enable or disable notifications through iOS Settings.
• Delete locally stored QuestWake data by deleting the app.
• Request deletion of bug report information or onboarding information by contacting us.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional privacy rights under applicable law, including the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you.

9. Data Retention

• On-device data: Stored until you delete the app.
• Onboarding data: Retained only as long as reasonably necessary for product improvement, analytics, and operational purposes, unless a longer retention period is required by law.
• Bug reports: Retained only as long as reasonably necessary to investigate, respond to, and resolve the reported issue.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When changes are made, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
